Greeting from the Director

Josep Domingo-Ferrer, Academic Director of the Serra Húnter Programme

I am pleased to welcome you to the Serra Húnter Programme (SHP) website.

The SHP is a tool at the service of the Catalan university system, jointly promoted by the Government of Catalonia and the seven Catalan public universities (the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Technical University of Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra University, the University of Lleida, the University of Girona and Rovira i Virgili University).

The SHP has been designed to promote the hiring of professors with consolidated academic records, comparable to international standards, by the aforementioned universities. It is also an instrument that aims to make the renewal of faculty easier for universities, to foster internationalisation and to improve academic production. Between 2012 and 2020, the SHP will offer around 500 new contracts, thus helping consolidate the improvement of the research done in the Catalan universities.

Through a selection process based on an independent assessment of scientific talent and an evaluation of the previous academic experience, the SHP hires faculty from both Catalonia and around the world, and aims to appoint not just academics who have been trained in the Catalan university system, but also researchers who have been trained abroad.

Internationalisation, the quest for excellence and national and international cooperation are intrinsic features of the SHP. We hope that this website will prove to be an efficient tool for all applicants and that it will help make your application task easier. Here you will find all the latest information, and you will be able to make queries and apply for positions offered under the Programme.

Josep Domingo-Ferrer
